News: My first book will be published in early August.

My goal for Expect More was to communicate my business philosophy rather than to create a how-to book. So, I decided to write a business parable. My approach has always been to teach through real-live examples, so this format fits me well.

The story is only about 100 pages, so it's an easy read in one or two evenings. But I think it captures the essence of my sales philosophy.

Expect More is the story of a young salesman who has exceptionally high potential, but his lack of understanding of himself and his customers have led him to frustration and failure. Some dramatic events force him to change his focus and learn from an older and wiser individual.

I won't give any more away. I hope you take the opportunity to order a copy and let me know what you think. Expect More—Sell More will be available August 1. Stay tuned for a special offer.

News: If you think it's crowded where you are... Try selling in China.

One thing that stuck out to me was the similarities between the issues faced by sales people there and here at home. We all face the similar challenges - understanding our customers, qualifying prospects, communicating our unique value proposition.

Even with the language barrier, I found the Chinese people to be gracious and eager to learn. They really want to elevate their game. The challenge for us in the United States is to maintain the same level of enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, and desire to a be better at what we do.

From where I sit, Thomas Friedman was right, the world is getting flatter.
